The North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics is a STEM-focused school that receives thousands of applicants to their residential and online programs, with just under 500 students being accepted. Three of Pamlico's own young scholars were accepted into the online course this year. These ladies went through a grueling application process, which entailed writing two essays, going through the process to get their residency certification number, and finally attending the Welcome Day orientation in Raleigh, Durham.
These three extraordinary recipients were Catelynne Bennett, Ehren Rolle, and Brylea Hardison. We gathered comments from each of them on this exciting news:
"I'm so grateful and excited for this opportunity to learn new things and meet new people!" - Ehren Rolle's thoughts of her community-building experience to come.
"I'm so excited to have been accepted and I plan to make the most of this amazing opportunity! I'm relieved that the application process turned out to be worth it. I love that I'm now able to grow academically as well as socially." - Brylea Hardison on her aspirations and future, as well as making the cut.
"It's a decently elaborate process that requires you to really pay attention to what you are doing and how much time you have. When I was accepted I felt really excited and I am looking forward to taking the online classes for NCSSM." Catelynne Bennett on the application process and excitement for being accepted!
All in all, the enrollment of these three young ladies is quite a feat, and we hope that their experience being part of the NCSSM Online Durham Class of 2027 is one that they will cherish forever!
