The Pamlico County High School Jazz Band showcased their talent at the Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival on October 4, 2024. The Ol’ Front Porch Music Festival is a festival that pays homage to the bluegrass musicians who used to gather on the porch at Billy and Lucille Truitt’s Ol’ store at South Water and New Streets in New Orleans. The PCHS Jazz Band played a selection of jazz songs including “Caravan,” “Autumn Leaves,” and “Mercy Mercy Mercy.” After these songs, the band played a selection of songs from Ray Charles. The band not only had a successful performance, but also was successful in its fundraising mission. The band relies on fundrains to improve the band program. Other artists who played are Harbor Sounds, Down East Dulcimers, The Uhoos, The Pamlico Community Band, and other artists who can be found on the official website.
