Welcome back, PCHS! We hope everyone had an amazing break and is excited for the second semester! These first 2 days have been a whirlwind of emotions; some of us are a little scattered and recovering from break, while others are transitioning into the second semester effortlessly. To celebrate these new beginnings, The Black and Gold has decided to debrief with some students, and here's what they had to say!

"How was your Christmas break?"

Sabella Rodgers: "My Christmas break was really fun!"

Olivia Greene: "It was really good!"

Moriah Phillips: "It was really good. I got a lot of gifts and gave a lot of gifts. That made me really happy."

David Mewborn: "Pretty good. You know, I just worked."

Kris Ormond: "It was really good. I got some of the best things I’ve gotten all  year, and got some really good food."

"How does it feel coming back after the break?"

Sabella Rodgers: "Honestly, not the best. I was really, really tired, but it’s a good transition along with other classes."

Olivia Greene: "It’s kinda weird getting back into a regular schedule, but it’s pretty cool."

Moriah Phillips: "I really hate waking up in the morning. It’s really hard because I just want to go to sleep, but I’m here against my will. But, I also wanna continue my education!"

David Mewborn: "I actually feel pretty good– well rested."

Kris Ormond: "I was kinda bored. To be fair, I can’t drive yet, so I've been sitting at home a lot. It’s kinda good, kinda bad. But, it’s alright."

"How do you feel about your schedule?"

Sabella Rodgers: "I like it a lot more than last year."

Olivia Greene: "It’s not bad– they did change my schedule a couple of days before coming back, but it’s still not bad."

Moriah Phillips: "The first two periods really kill me inside, I love it. I have AP Calculus, AP Literature, college, and ROTC– so, it’s pretty okay."

David Mewborn: "Pretty good. No complaints, except I’m very bad at Spanish."

Kris Ormond: "Pretty good– I got all the classes I wanted, so I feel satisfied."

"Do you have any upcoming school events you’re excited for?

Sabella Rodgers: "We have regionals for SkillsUSA on March 2nd, I believe."

Olivia Greene: "There are a few wrestling tournaments coming up– also, senior night in a few weeks."

Moriah Phillips: "There’s a Youth and Government conference coming up in Raleigh, so I’m really excited for that. I love everything about that. Also, I’m very excited for the Navy Ball and prom– also, a bunch of senior stuff coming in the future."

David Mewborne: "I have an ECU audition coming up, so I’m very excited about that."

Kris Ormond: "Yeah– I’m excited about the band trip and the SkillsUSA trip– not sure when either of them is, but I’m still looking forward to both."

With all the positive things to come in the future and the many good insights, we have a feeling that this year is going to be a truly positive and amazing one!

We hope everyone has a great first few weeks!
