On Friday December 5th, the Chargers of Ayden-Grifton High School made the trip to Hurricane Alley and left with a loss from their varsity boys basketball team. Our Pamlico County High School boys basketball team secured their first win of the season, beating Ayden-Grifton 57-49 in electric fashion. Let's hear from some of the players that had a big impact on Friday’s win. Here is Senior Darien Fisher’s take on the game Friday, “First win of the season felt good, especially since they beat us by 30 points the first time we played them. We had to walk through before our game to come up with a game plan so it felt great to be able to execute the plan and it worked.” We also heard from Freshman Noah Gibbs. He said, “We didn't open the season the way we wanted, but we kept working. Friday's win shows what we're capable of, and I'm proud to be a freshman starter in that.” It was not just the teams first win of the season, it was also Varsity Head Coach DJ Lewis’s first career win. Here is how Coach Lewis felt about the game, “It was a huge team win! We came in with a game plan and we executed that plan successfully. It felt great to get my first win. Even better that it came at home and on my son's second birthday. We still have work to do so hopefully it is the first of many to come this season.” We can not wait to watch them grow throughout the season. Now that the team has their first win under their belt, we know that everyone is looking forward to seeing them succeed for the rest of the season.
