Last Thursday and Friday night, the PCHS Theatre Department put on their very own exhibition of ‘And a Partridge in a Pear Tree’. I had the privilege of being in the audience on their opening night, and it is safe to say that all of the hard work they put in this semester paid off. The play is split into twelve parts, each based upon a play on words from the Christmas carol, ‘A Partridge in a Pear Tree’. The scenes conspired as follows:

Scene 1: 12 Drummers Drumming - A drummer teaches how you can make music anywhere!

Scene 2: 11 Pipers Piping - A bake shop apprentice bites off more than she can chew.

Scene 3: 10 Lords-a-Leaping - A restaurant runs out of its most famous dish.

Scene 4: 9 Ladies Dancing - A snowflake dancer character is encouraged to be confident in her skills!

Scene 5: 8 Maids-a-Milking - A new friendship blooms when a shopper lends a helping hand.

Scene 6: 7 Swans-a-Swimming - A getaway makes the perfect Christmas gift.

Scene 7: 6 Geese-a-Laying - An impatient spouse learns they enjoy shopping more than they thought.

Scene 8: 5 Golden Rings - A Christmas proposal!

Scene 9: 4 Calling Birds - Two friends learn the importance of quality time.

Scene 10: 3 French Hens - 2 friends confess that they are fake French connoisseurs.

Scene 11: 2 Turtle Doves - Three siblings find their dream pet!

Scene 12: And A Partridge in a Pear Tree - The mall is united to find a lost ‘little guy’!

While these summaries don’t do the performance justice, I hope that they will showcase the cast’s creativity to anyone who was unable to see the play in person.
