On April 30, 2025, our NJROTC unit held their annual award ceremony. This ceremony is an opportunity for cadets to be recognized for their hard work and dedication to their unit. Although this happens every year, this award ceremony was special. Area 5 manager Mr. James Landis was in attendance, and awarded Ally Leaming with the Joseph C. Gilliam Academic Achievement award. This award recognizes the top cadets in each area for their demonstrated leadership, academic achievements, and community service. Also, Shelby Mehring was awarded the Meritorious Achievement Award for her outstanding leadership as Commanding Officer. During the ceremony, seniors Peyton Robinson, Diana Harper, and Patti Pickard were awarded scholarships. Many cadets were awarded individual awards for their conduct, dedication to the unit, and how they stepped up as leaders in the NJROTC program. Cadets were also promoted to a new rank depending on their role and involvement in the unit. Lastly, the Change of Command ceremony promoted four cadets to new leadership positions in the unit. Brinley Altman was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, assuming the position of the unit’s Commanding Officer. Moriah Phillips was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, assuming the position of the unit’s Executive Officer. Elijah Pauley was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, assuming the position of the unit’s Chief of Staff. Jacob Sawyer was promoted to the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer, assuming the position of the unit’s Command Senior Chief. Congratulations to the NJROTC cadets!
